How to have a Gluten Free & Allergen Free Lifestyle

If you follow any of my Instagram or my Facebook posts, then you KNOW that I really love to eat as much as the other gal/guy. With all that eating that is being done, nothing makes me drop my fork as much as an email that starts with,

"Welcome to our San Diego Blogger Team! ". 

 

The San Diego Gluten Free and Allergen Free Expo is coming to town on February 20-21, 2015 and I am one of the many food bloggers who will spend time checking it out and talking about my favorite things. This is pretty exciting to me  (as exciting as this awesome dish I was eating when I opened up my email and saw the intro)!

Spanish Torta Espanola- A really fun go to meal for breakfast. 

When I first opted to eat more of a gluten free dish, I was skeptical. Primarily because when I first found out about the lifestyle, I thought gluten was just "pizza and bread" and I was like, "oh helllll to the no, I won't give up pizza and bread" (I am sure most people are just as ignorant about gluten free as I was, but mad props if you weren't). I pushed it aside for a long time, until I came across a challenge from my 1st clients when I spun off as a personal chef. They challenged me to eat the way that I was cooking for them. More nutrient rich, less process, and less carbs. It was AMAZING how I felt after just ONE week of dropping that unhealthy pattern of behavior. I grew up eating bread, process foods, and lots of gluten laden grains that I would have NEVER thought I would be so hyped to drop out of my everyday. It was that year long job with those clients that I changed how I ate. I drop weight, I felt better, my skin was luminous, and I was no longer suffering from what I call "food baby" (that bloated belly and those gassy gas exits from my body). I drank the kool-aid without realizing, and when I went back to minimal gluten eating, while eating a more nutrient rich meal, I felt great. I no longer am deprived of a great balance food life. So I challenge all of you to adopt this eating for just one week- try it. It really makes you feel good. I feel great. I am happy again now that I found my balance. I am thrilled to eat this way more. Give it a try. As a former carb-o-holic, I can tell you- it has CHANGED my life. I'm so pumped about eating this way. 

Okay, now back to my other thing I am pumped about; this blogging opportunity! How freaking cool for little o me! I have been so looking forward to an opportunity like this for sometime now, and I have to say, "it's pretty cool...." I love being a part of something bigger than myself.  So you may ask me, what is the big deal about the #GFAFExpo Martha? Well, unless you have been living under a rock (my boyfriend likes to tell me that I have lived under a rock since the 1990's, hahaha very funny...), then you know that GF and AF are a eating lifestyle to adopt.

It has help hundreds of thousands not only shed those unwanted pounds, but also to energize more, eliminate digestive problems (you know how you feel after eating bread and pizza or those lovely crackers), and also to adapt a healthy BMI, (and probably my favorite of all) eat more healthier with whole foods and awesome proteins! I really love how my favorite advocate of whole foods, Jamie Oliver put is for us. 

I believe, many people choose to go gluten-free. Gluten is the protein found in many of our main sources of starchy carbohydrates, such as bread and pasta. By going gluten-free, you are limiting your sources of carbohydrates, a method many in fact use to aid weight loss.
